Shopping experiences in Mauritius are absolutely amazing: ranging from shopping in a relaxed atmosphere in shopping centers, doing duty-free shopping or shopping in craft markets or even buying artisanal objects from hawkers on the beach or streets.
Mauritius has a reputation for being a shopping paradise. Known worldwide as a manufacturer of quality textile, unique designed jewelry, diamonds and a wide range of hand crafts such as: artificial flowers, model boats, wooden art and many more you will surely find something for your heart’s desire.
Tamarin – several supermarkets, less than 5km away. Tamarin has a few small Shopping-centers like Ruisseau Creole, Cap Tamarin with a lot of little shops, cafés, restaurants and bakeries.
Port Louis – the famous Caudan Waterfront, a beautiful location with shops, restaurants, cinema, cafés and a nice view on the harbour.
Chinatown and the central market are definitely also a ‘must see’ for a shopping-day in the capital.
Trianon – A shopping-center directly on the roundabout with a lot of small shops.
Floreal – Floreal Square is the address to buy cashmere products, a bit further up you will find Soflo a very nice shopping mall.
Cascavelle Shopping Village – A shopping-center between Tamarin and Flic en Flac with nice small shops, cafés and restaurants.
Bagatelle – A big shopping-center on the motorway between Ebene and Port Louis. Here you can enjoy a nice shopping day including cinema.
Plaisance – A nice shopping-center on the motorway just after or before the airport. Here you can enjoy a nice shopping day including a food court.
La Croisette – The biggest shopping mall in Mauritius. It’s directly on your way to Grand Baie. It’s a really big mall with nice small shops and a big place with cafés and restaurants.
Mont Choisy – A small, nice shopping-center close to La Croisette.
Quatre Bornes – On Thursdays and Sundays are the open markets for clothes and souvenirs and lots of different items. It’s a very popular outing and definitely worth a visit.
Flacq – every day from 0600am to 0615pm are the open markets for clothes and souvenirs and lots of different items. It’s a very popular outing.
Mahebourg – On Mondays from 0600am to 0615pm are the open markets for clothes and souvenirs and lots of different items. It’s a very popular outing.
